Productivity at last!

Outline for Pathfinder is (near) complete. There's one tiny plot point that I haven't sorted out very close to the end, but I have enough material to keep me happily occupied for a long bit. The plot also spiralled off into epic. Geez.

I also want to do major editting (by "major editting" I mean, ripping out everything and re-writing from scratch) on the first three chapters RARGH. This is why I never get anything finished.

Some organising being done here. (It's the Lunar New Year! Spring cleaning is in order!)

1. Tags - I'm retiring the one-shot tag; future one-shots will be tagged by title. It started getting a bit meaningless to have a one-shot tag. But because I'm LAZY, I highly doubt that I'm going to go back through all the old things to re-tag them. (I've been wanting to neaten up my tags for the long time. It didn't happen when I had free time. Doubt it'll ever happen until I retire or change my job or decide to pursue a masters' degree or something).

2. Archive platform - My Vorkosigo verse stuff is all ending up on AO3 because I notice that's the platform that most of the fandom uses. FF7, however, still seems to be mostly on journal. I intend to cross post the newer fics, but what about the older ones?

I can't create a ticky box poll on this account, but I was wondering - where do you guys go for your fic? Journal communities? Journals (LJ or DW?)? AO3? Should I start moving my fics over to AO3 or are they easy enough to find here?

Just breaking the silence for a couple of things :)

The first is that I now have an archive of our own account, where I've uploaded a couple of new fics for the Vorkosigan series that haven't been uploaded here.

White Knights is an Ivan-centric story, based around an AU where Simon Illyan and Alys Vorpartil marry when Ivan is five. Multi-chaptered work in progress.

In this Valley of Dying Stars focuses around Simon Illyan, Count Piotr Vorkosigan, and the spectre of Emperor Ezar. One-shot.


The other thing is - remember that fic, Empire, that I started in 2005? Man that was a piece of crap. Then remember my attempt to fix it by starting a re-write in 2007? Man, that too is a piece of crap, but it's saved by the fact that it's only 1 chapter long. Well, I attempted to continue the re-write lately, and then it grew. And grew. And Empire is now - I wouldn't say it's a completely different creature, because the setup is the same, the themes that I threw in in 2007 are the same, and the end point is the same (although the actual ending has changed. Again. But it's a variation on a theme. But anyway) - the number of themes and issues that it deals with have multiplied several times.

So I think I'm putting Fathoms Deep back on the active list - it really is a lot better than I thought it was. By about a million times. Now I just need to figure out what I was doing with it.

It'll still have to take its queue number amidst the millions of unfinished things I have, though.
