For
xandrabelle.
There is betwixt that smile we would aspire to,
That sweet aspect of princes, and their ruin,
More pangs and fears than wars or women have;
And when he falls, he falls like Lucifer,
Never to hope again.
-- W. Shakespeare, Henry VIII
Story foreword:
This follows on from Never to Hope Again Part I, and if you haven’t read that segment, I’d advise you do so before reading this one, or it won’t make sense. ^^;
I don't / didn't do this because it destroys the impact and the flow of the original story. But yes, I did deliberately leave a loophole at the end of Never to Hope Again -- I didn't actually write Rufus dying. And to steal and mutilate a quote off
celes_grant, Tseng is a master of deux ex machina, and so is Rufus. It must be a Shinra thing.
Like I said to
abby_sarajane, the chances of Rufus surviving a blast like that are about the same as the chances of him surviving getting hit head on by a high energy blast from WEAPON.
Also, I’ve been struggling with a bit of writer’s block for a few weeks, so this may come out a little strange, or at least, a little different from my usual style. At the very least, half of it was written right after I finished Part I, and the rest of it was written later. I decided to pick up on this one and finish it before plunging back into my multi-parters as a bit oftarget practice. :D;;
For
xandrabelle, who’s been wanting some Rufus/Tseng that isn’t angsty for a while! :D
